FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PLASTIC FABRICATION SERVICES
Plastic fabrication is the cutting, forming, and joining of plastic sheet and stock into finished parts and assemblies such as tanks, ductwork, and enclosures. It lets a builder match the material to chemicals and conditions that would corrode metal.
Plastic welding fuses two thermoplastic pieces by heating them until the surfaces melt and bond, then cooling them under pressure. Done correctly, the joint holds as strong and leak-tight as the material around it, which is why it suits tanks and vessels that hold liquids.
Only thermoplastics weld, because they soften with heat and re-fuse. Polypropylene, polyethylene, and PVC weld well, which is why they show up in industrial tanks and piping.
Plastic resists the corrosion that attacks metal in chemical and wastewater service, so a welded plastic tank often lasts longer and needs less upkeep in those conditions.
